Fjord Hikes AS · Stavanger, overnight Lysebotn
Day one is Preikestolen by a quiet nature trail and a cruise up the Lysefjord; day two is Kjerag, the harder hike at the fjord's far end. Pick it if you want both and would rather not drive the long way round to Kjerag yourself.

The itinerary: a 40-minute van ride to Pulpit Rock, a five-hour guided hike on the hidden nature trail, then a two-hour cruise along the Lysefjord to Lysebotn at its head. Dinner is two courses and breakfast is a buffet. In the morning the van climbs the 27 hairpin bends to the Kjerag trailhead, you hike for about five hours with a guide, and a 2.5-hour drive takes you back to Stavanger.
Kjerag is a different animal. Fjord Norway puts it at about 10 km return, 5 to 6 hours and 570 m of ascent, with chains on the steep sections, and rates it demanding. The prize is Kjeragbolten, the boulder wedged above a drop of 984 m. The road to Lysebotn closes in winter, says Fjord Norway, so treat this as a summer trip and check dates when you book.
The one guest who has written about it noted that doing both hikes with an overnight saved a lot of driving. That is the real argument. The listing rules it out for anyone pregnant or with heart problems, mobility issues, fear of heights or vertigo.
Pickup in Stavanger, 40 minutes by van, then about five hours on the hidden nature trail to the plateau.
Two hours along the Lysefjord to the village at its far end.
A two-course dinner and an overnight stay. Breakfast is a buffet.
A 30-minute van ride up the 27 hairpin bends to the Kjerag trailhead.
About five hours with a guide, with chains on the steepest slabs.
A 2.5-hour drive to Stavanger, where the trip ends.
★★★★★It was perfect. My guide Erlend was amazing.
